Come n’ Try Boccia at Somerville Recreation Centre!
Come and join us for Boccia! Ethan Horan from Boccia Australia has offered to host the Mornington Network for a Come n’ Try Boccia Day, on 20 August! We’re stoked to learn all about this very inclusive sport.
As you may have seen in the Paralympics, both Jamieson Leeson and Daniel Michel won silver medals in Boccia. Boccia is an indoor bowling game that requires strategy and accuracy rather than strength and is played socially and competitively. The object is to throw or use a ramp device to propel leather balls as close as possible to a white ball which serves as a target. The game can be played in pairs or in teams.
We shall start play at 11:30am at the Somerville Recreation Centre, followed by lunch at 1:15pm at the Somerville Hotel around the corner.
We look forward to welcoming our regular members and hopefully meet some new faces too. Carers, family and friends are also welcome. Please remember to RSVP!
